Aviation Unit Helps Recover Missing Cyclist

On January 3, members of our Aviation Unit responded to Carlton Reserve for the report of a missing person. The complainant told the North Port Police Department he was lost in a wooded area near the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, which is in the city of North Port. Even though it was already dark out, our pilots quickly arrived on scene and began a methodical search of the property, eventually locating the cyclist approximately three miles north of the entrance to the Myakkahatchee Park. Pilots communicated with ground units while the calltaker communicated with the cyclist. As you will see in this video, North Port Police officers were able to bring ATVs on property to get deep into the wooded area and recover the cyclist.
