Hong Kong restricted some of its border crossings with the Chinese mainland in an effort to contain the spread of coronavirus, as shown in footage from Wednesday.
Passengers can be seen wearing masks in Lok Ma Chau station, located at the border between Hong Kong and mainland China’s Shenzehn.
“I think the closing of some ports by the government is still acceptable. At least the government did not do the stupid thing of getting infected people to come to Hong Kong for free medical care,” said one passenger Mr. So.
The total number of coronavirus infection cases confirmed in Hong Kong has risen to eight, the Hong Kong Health Department said on Monday.
The total number of cases confirmed by China stands at 4,515, with 106 thought to have died from the disease.
The new strain of coronavirus has spread from China to other countries, including the US, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Australia, Nepal, France and now Germany. Cases were also reported in Taiwan, Canada, Japan, Malaysia and Vietnam.
